Who am i?
My name is Malika and I am a current masters student at the University of British Columbia. I am studying economics, with a particular interest in public, health and development. I have completed coursework in economic theory, public expenditures, policy evaluation and development. I am looking for a position where I can utilize my quantitative skills to support the growth and development of others. In the pursuit of finding a sense of belonging and community during my time at the University of Washington, I had become involved in various activities, jobs and which have developed my leadership skills and have defined the person that i strive to become. When I was a young child, I asked my mom, "What is the most important feeling?" and her response was, "probably feeling loved and loving others", I thought for a few moments and responded "mom, love is important but the most important feeling is feeling safe". Safety is my core value and a feeling that I strive for in everything that I do. Love and trust between individuals, provide safe relationships. A sense of community and belonging provide me social safety. I love connecting with people, I enjoying sharing my story and listening to others. I've always been the quiet individual, involved with everything, never believing that my presence mattered. I continued to involve myself, because I enjoyed the process of learning and growing with everything that I do. I am always ready to learn and to change and have continuously evolved throughout every experience that I have been a part of. |
