Husky Leadership Certificate
My portfolio is organized by three of the most transformational experiences that I have experienced in my college career. The three experiences that I talk about, tested my limits, redefined my meaning of safety and have ultimately led me to feeling safe and confident with who I am and who I am in process of becoming.
Leadership philosophy
For most of my life, I have identified as a participator instead of a leader. I thought of a leader as the individual at the front of the room, spirited, loud and confident. To become a leader, I thought that I would have to change, to adapt to this persona that I knew would never fit me. I have realized over the years and through the experiences documented here, that leadership is an individual mindset where you have the confidence in your own traits and strengths and use that confidence to help others or for the good of the whole. My leadership practice style is unique in that I strive for comfort, community and inclusivity in everything that I do. The group process and interaction between individuals is just as important to me as the final product or goal. I am a firm believer in the notion that everyone has a story, and that story is a compilation of life's experiences. Taking the time to listen to one another and let each other share our stories, leads to a deeper understanding and more productive teamwork.
